for highly motivated individuals at various stages of your scientific career including summer internships, graduate training
and full-time postdoctoral research training and faculty level positions are available. Studies are focused on the development of heat shock protein-based therapies and understanding the role of heat shock proteins
in various human diseases and disorders including cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurodegenerative disorders, exercise immunophysiology
and aging.
Our surroundings;
Temple, also known as
the “Wildflower Capital of Texas”, is perfectly situated between Austin and Dallas. Only a 1-hour drive
north of Austin, and a 2-hour drive from Dallas.
Temple is definitely the “Heart of Central Texas”
with museums, cultural activities, beautiful parks and local lakes, a wonderful family-oriented town. Of note, Temple
has the most physicians per capita in the State, and home to Scott & White Clinic and Hospital, one of the Top 100 hospitals in the United States.
Founded as a railroad water stop in 1881 by the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railroad, The
Santa Fe Railroad Depot has recently been renovated and is home to the Railroad and Heritage Museum, and the town proudly sponsors a train festival each year. The Santa Fe
Hospital is now part of Scott and White Hospital. Temple is a family
friendly city with an excellent school system; the Temple Independent
School District's motto is put “Children First” encourages parents and community participation in each child’s
education.
Austin is not only the
Texas State Capital, but also the “Live Music Capital of the World” and known for its colorful history, diverse art and multicultural food.
Austin has long been a haven for up-and-coming artists, as well as stomping grounds
for celebrities who prefer the quiet laidback pace of Texas.
Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong calls Austin home, as well as the Lance Armstrong Foundation which continues in the support of cancer research. The University of Texas, Austin is located in the heart of the city, and the Longhorn football team recently won the 2006 Rose Bowl.
College Station is the home of Texas A&M University and Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, affiliated with Scott & White Hospital. College Station
is also home to the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum.
Dallas is the 7th largest city in
the USA. It’s logo “Live
Large. Think Big” speaks volumes for a city rich with pride and accomplishment. The city offers countless culinary,
artistic, entertainment and sports opportunities. Temple's proximity to Dallas
is great for the sports enthusiast since Dallas is home to
the world renown Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Mavericks and Texas Rangers.
